The Muslim Student Report

'Stop talking about celebrating diversity and focus on integration and assimilation'

If ignorance and poverty are responsible for the growth of extremist views in the Islamic world, someone needs ask to Muslim students, privileged enough and bright enough to attend some of the United Kingdom's best universities, why one-in-three of them endorses killing in the name of Islam.

The report of this finding, based on a poll of 600 Muslim and 800 non-Muslim students at 12 universities in the UK, and conducted by YouGov on behalf of the Center for Social Cohesion, will be released tomorrow as "Islam on Campus."

Among its findings of Muslim beliefs:

- 40 per cent support introduction of sharia into British law for Muslims
One-third back the idea of a worldwide Islamic caliphate based on sharia law

- 40 per cent believe it is unacceptable for Muslim men and women to associate freely

- 24 per cent do not think men and women are equal in the eyes of Allah

- 25 per cent have little or no respect for homosexuals.

- 53 per cent believe killing in the name of religion is never justified (compared with 94 per cent of non-Muslims), while 32 per cent say it is

- 57 per cent believe Muslim soldiers serving in the UK military should be able to refuse duty in Muslim countries

- More than half favor an Islamic political party to support their views in parliament

- One-third don't think or don't know if Islam is compatible with Western views of democracy

"Significant numbers appear to hold beliefs which contravene democratic values," Hannah Stuart, one of the report's authors, told the London Times. "These results are deeply embarrassing for those who have said there is no extremism in British universities."
The report echoes one released last year by the Policy Exchange which found 37% of all Muslims aged 16-24 would prefer to live under a sharia system.

In addition to polling of 1,400 students, the researchers visited more than 20 universities to interview students and listen to guest speakers brought on campus. The report notes radical Islamic preachers regularly deliver inflammatory speeches that target homosexuals and border on anti-Semitism.

"Our researchers found a ghettoized mentality among Muslim students at Queen Mary (college)," said James Brandon, deputy director at CSC. "Also, we found the segregation between Muslim men and women at events more visible at Queen Mary."
A spokesman for Queen Mary told the Times the university knew Islamic preachers had spoken on campus but was unaware of what they had said.

"Clearly, we in no way associate ourselves with these views. However, also integral to the spirit of university life is free speech and debate, and on occasion speakers will make statements that are deemed offensive," he said.

Wes Streeting, president of the National Union of Students, condemned the study: "This disgusting report is a reflection of the biases and prejudices of a right-wing think tank – not the views of Muslim students across Britain. Only 632 Muslim students were asked vague and misleading questions, and their answers were willfully misinterpreted."

The report was criticized by the country's largest Muslim student body, the Federation of Student Islamic Societies. Most of the Islamic societies on campuses operate under the FOSIS umbrella.

The authors of the report note that campus Islamic societies have, in the past, been where some UK terrorists became radicalized. They cite Kafeel Ahmed, who drove a jeep engulfed in flames into a building at the Glasgow airport last year and died of his burns. Investigators believe he adopted jihadist beliefs while studying at Anglia Ruskin university, Cambridge.

In April, WND reported that the director-general of MI5 had warned the government that donations of hundreds of millions of pounds from Saudi Arabia and powerful Muslim organizations in Pakistan, Indonesia and the Gulf Straits had led to a "dangerous increase in the spread of extremism in leading university campuses."

"The finding that a large number of students think it is okay to kill in the name of religion is alarming," said Anthony Glees, professor of security and intelligence studies at Buckingham University."There is a wide cultural divide between Muslim and non-Muslim students. The solution is to stop talking about celebrating diversity and focus on integration and assimilation."

From Monkey in the Middle: Isn't it strange that these Muslim student, many have parents who immigrated from strict Muslim lands, would want to live under Shar'ia Law in Great Britain. If they want to live under Shar'ia Law then they should move to Iran, or Saudi Arabia. There they can live the way they want to. Given enough time, Great Britain will either capitulate to Muslim demands or throw them out of the nation. There is no third middle ground here. Muslims will keep demanding and rioting until they get their own way, or they get evicted. I personally favor the eviction model.

A note from Radarsite: This revealing article was posted a couple of days ago on Findalis' always informative Monkey in the Middle. This is an extremely important report. We must make sure that this gets out there to as many readers as possible. This is what we are facing, without the obtuse apologetics of our liberal MSM and our leftist Muslim appeasers. This is the enemy stripped bare. In their own words they condemn themselves and their horrific cult. This report should be made mandatory reading at all of our schools and universities.

It won't, of course. It will be attacked and besmirched and denigrated and denied -- as we can see, it already has been: "The report was criticized by the country's largest Muslim student body, the Federation of Student Islamic Societies.." And: "This disgusting report is a reflection of the biases and prejudices of a right-wing think tank – "

But, for all of that, this particular genie cannot be put back in the bottle. It is out there now for all to see. This shocking survey should be read especially by all those who profess to have "good Muslim friends" who are peaceful and kind and generous, and who have written in to comments threads using this anecdotal evidence as proof positive that we are all wrong about Islam, that we just don't understand Islam, that "most Muslims are against extremism". How, I wonder, will they defend their uninformed and delusional theories after reading this report? How will they be able to go on denying the obvious?

No doubt, as some of you are most likely hastening to answer, our PC multiculturalists will just ignore it as they always have done. We can expect this, and we will surely not be disappointed.

But our hope rests with all of those people out there who have not made up their minds yet, who are waiting for more information before committing themselves.

Well folks, here it is. Please read it and understand. And please, please, before it really is too late -- commit yourselves. Our enemies have already committed themselves long ago.

Thank you Findalis for posting this valuable information, and for your pertinent commentary. - rg

They do indeed want to live under Shar'ia Law in Great Britain...In the United States, and the rest of the world too! There's no if's and but's about their stated goals, "Islam or bust!"
I personally favor the 'bust' model.
Not to beat an old saying to the ground but may I repeat, "From Cassandra to Jesus Christ, it is amazing how often the doomed choose to ignore those who warn them of their coming fate."

With that said, may I add a new slogan, "Bust Islam Now!"

  2. I do wish I could see the questions. They very well may have been misleading, but it doesn't change the fact that some universities are breeding grounds for extremism. The leadership seems to think being open minded means that they should advocate positions they feel are underrepresented. This is of course just plain stupid, not open minded.

A college professor of mine (ironically) said it best: college isn't about acceptance as seems to be the de facto motto these days; it is about exposure segueing into a more informed decision. The latter requires an open mind while the former requires stupidity. This yields to another platter of irony: the norm at our educational institutions seems to be acceptance(stupidity), not informed decision making (open mindedness).

My guess is that since Islam seems to be on the hot-seat in more reasonable circles, it is in vogue among the "open minded" to accept it. At least I should hope that nobody arrived at Islam through an informed decision; even with the "women are jewels to be protected and beaten to death at their owner's discretion if they're tarnished" spin, what does it have to offer, especially to young people? The only conclusion I can arrive at is that most of these students are simply idiots trying to score points on some hypothetical PC scoreboard. Or maybe they have a real one hidden somewhere in UCI.

  3. If these "students" want Shar'ia Law let them move to a nation that actually practices it. You know Saudi Arabia, Iran, Sudan. Then they can all live in happiness while leaving the rest of the world alone.

  4. Thanks Norm.

And well said as usual Findalis. I agree. And thanks again for posting this important piece.

And hello Ryan and goodbye Webmaster!
Ryan, here's a question for you -- When the hell are you going to create a website of your own? You're a very good writer, you seem well-informed, you've got some excellent ideas and you state them very boldly. I don't know what you're waiting for. But we need good clear smart young voices out there like yours. If you're in college then you're probably pressed for time, but give it some thought, will you?

    Take care everyone --

  5. The funny thing is that I've been deeply considering starting up a blog. My main concern is that I'll write some provocative and informed articles...and then run out of ideas, leaving whatever readership I've garnered wanting.

I might just go ahead and do it, though. There doesn't seem to be any shortage of...we'll call them mind crumbs...to chew on these days.

  6. Go for it Ryan. I was that way too. Scared of blogging in fear that I would dry up the well too soon, or that it wouldn't be well received.

I was wrong and you will find yourself wondering why you didn't start sooner.
