The debate is over. The Democrats can never again claim they are patriotic. Who would ever throw a brand new flag in the trash? Answer: The thousands of Democrats at the Obama convention.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
A note from Radarsite: I wouldn't do it, would you? Would you, could you dump the American flag into the trashcan, just after having given all those phony patriotic speeches? If nothing else, wouldn't you even be just a little concerned for how it might look? Well, not these people. Their message is clear. Contempt. Contempt for America and contempt for our opinions of their disgusting conduct.
This is the true message of the Democratic Convention. This is the image they have left us with.
Shame. Shame. Shame. -rg

  1. That was wrong. Just plain wrong. They should have taken them home as a reminder of their convention.

  2. When I look at this, I see people who expected to wave the flag, or maybe it was handed to them as they walked-in the door at the Convention.

I could never dump the flag in the trash like that - and especially not in a public arena. I know eventually you cannot keep all the flags you gather over the years. I try to take them to Salvation Army, etc.

Young adults have grown up knowing nothing about respect for the flag as a symbol of our liberty.

  4. To be fair, I personally don't know how I would have handled my flag at that kind of forum. I'd like to think I would have handled it at least a little more tactfully than simply trashing it along with my spent drink bottles, but I can't say for sure.

What I can say is that the convention runners absolutely should have thought about it. Those loons think of everything; there are no accidents.

So I'll give the masses the benefit of the doubt on this one, but the Democratic party...well, shame, shame, shame.

  5. I STILL have the flag I was given at VP Cheney's rally!

Also, I have a small collection of historical American flags.

I am currently flying 3 of them, on poles, with the most recent one flying from the highest pole, as per US code. Yes, they are illuminated, with a 500W flood.

...and I'm a registered Republican, although more of a Constitutional Conservative.

  6. They would never do that to a UN flag or a Mexican flag.

  7. I was thinking that they would at least want to take them home for a souvenir or to give to their children.

The only thing that looks nice in the picture is the program that is also tossed away without care... the one that says Obama... the one that belongs there in the trash.

What does that mean? Oh just that not only do they not care about their country but guess what... if Obama disappoints the hypocrites, he will also be tossed into the garbage... literally and theoretically.

  8. A simple phrase; "..and the Nation for which it stands..."
I bet they brought home thier coffee mugs and tee shirts.
The gut-wrenching irony in this is that "...and the Nation for which it stands.." seems to have been missed.
They'd risk life and limb for their Louis Vuitton's and Gucchi's completely discounting the fact that they represent only conspicuous consumption.
It has been touted that Obama's disciples are among the better educated (third generation programmed and dumbed down minds) of the country.
But this element of "Americana" live by symbols, sound-bytes and how-to-dress-by-picture-book periodicals and make their decisions accordingly.
Otherwise they'd reflect on "...and the Nation for which it stands.."; our flags flown over American graves in foreign countries, have been in the vanguard of liberating forces and has shared its resources with more of the world than any other nation, and which has never taken the native lands of our enemies.

  9. I am Canadian and I remember being 8yrs old at Brownies(younger girl guides). One of the first things we learned about flags of countries especially our own, was it was not even allowed to touch the floor or ground except during Rememerance Day services when it was lowered to the ground on purpose out of respect for the fallen. If a Canadian flag touched the ground at any other time it had to be burned.

  10. Findalis :
"That was wrong. Just plain wrong. They should have taken them home as a reminder of their convention."

And then...? After how much time should have they disposed of them ? Or should they have kept them forever ? Precisions please ; not disagreeing with you, just requesting precisions on exactly what they shoud have done with the object.

  11. To that last 'anonymous' -- Although Findalis is quite capable of taking care of herself, as the author of this article I would like to respond.
I could be very precise on what you could do with that disingenuous comment but then I'd have to ban myself from my own site.
