We posted on courageous Dr. Wafa Sultan's second al-Jazeera interview that included a debate with Egyptian Islamist, Tal'at Rheim on the republication of the Danish Mohammed cartoons. Subsequent to the March 4th Al-Jazeera interview, Egyptian Islamist Sheik al-Qaradawi issued a Fatwa against her. Sultan and her family have gone into hiding.
Our ally , Bob Spencer of Jihad Watch has called Sultan " a national and international treasure". Having met Dr. Sultan, we agree. Yesterday, we received emails from Joyce and Persia expressing concerns about the lack of 24/7 personal security protection for Dr.Sultan. Note that in Holland, Dutch Parliamentarian Geert Wilders received 24/7 security from his government with the release of his important film, "Fitna".
Her safety is the equivalent of what the British government did for author Salman Rushdie when the Ayatollahs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a Fatwa calling for his death with the publication of his book, 'The Satanic Verses". Our government should consider doing the same for Dr. Sultan, an American citizen who is the subject of a death threat from an Islamist Cleric, Sheik al-Qarawadi. She asked us to help her by submitting a letter to the Embassy of Qatar. Qatar hosts the 24/7 Arab language satellite TV channel Al-Jazeera.
Submit your letter on the embassy site: http://www.qatarembassy.net/

Sultan has been forced into hiding and needs our help for her valued and courageous stands against radical Islamism.

Thank you for this heads up Act For America. This is an international disgrace which can not go uncontested. Here is a copy of Radarsite's letter to the Embassy of Qatar.

Dear Embassy of Qatar --I have for some time been under the impression that Qatar was one of those more enlightened and progressive Arab states, one of those ME countries where the possiblities exist for some kind of dialogue with the West, some kind of mutual understanding, that would forward both of our needs and hopes.

Unfortunately, It seems that I have been misled. You are not enlightened, you are not even in this era yet. You are still living in a backward-looking self-destructive paradigm that more rightly belongs to the Seventh Century than to the Twenty-First.

Even worse, it is not just that you refuse to see the light of civilization, you are actively engaged in trying to export your murderous darkness.

What, can you tell me, is the moral distinction between your "fatwa" calling for the death of a prestigious and respected American writer and an American style mob-sanctioned "hit'? Why should we treat with you any differently than we would treat with our criminal Mafia? There is no moral difference at all between you. There is no possible excuse for your brutal and antisocial behavior.

By this one outrageous act you have put the lie to all of those good works that you have done in your efforts to prove that you are worthy to join the modern world of Civilization and Reason. This one monstrous mistake in judgement has set you back years and years in the estimation of many Westerners -- and certainly in the minds of many Americans.

Unfortunately, despite your obvious wealth, and despite your grandious projects and ambitious plans for the future, you are not ready yet for assimilation into this Western world of light and freedom. You are not yet in this century.

Well, you can't have it both ways now, can you? You can't be welcomed into our world of light and modernity, and at the same time promise to murder one of our most admired and respected citizens with your illegal and immoral medieval fatwas.

Modern skylines do not a civilization make. It takes more than money and buildings. I'm sorry, but this latest outrage against the universal precepts of humanity and decency prove to us that you are still backward and poor, and in the words of T. E. Lawrence you are it seems unfortunately still "a little people".

Yours,

Roger W. Gardner

  2. Seven Pillars of Wisdom really does give an insight into the Arab mentality, doesn't it?
And Lawrence was sympathetic to their cause.....
