It's Valentine's Day. I had a pretty decent sleep last night, and I when I woke up this morning I felt pretty good. I turned on my computer and looked over my emails. The very first one was a notification of a comment from Gardner's Coffin to my earlier article Taxi Nights. As all of you know, it's very easy to delete a comment, you just press a button. I thought about it for awhile, but finally decided to publish it, obscenities and all. Not just to publish it as a comment, but to publish it as a whole new article. In this way I hope to share this Valentine message with even more readers. Your comments are of course welcome. - rg

When are you just going to die you sick mother fucker? The world will be a much better place once you've stopped breathing our air.

Can't you just feel the love?
ReplyDeleteAmerica is a bitterly divided country now in spite of cries of togetherness under homey the clown occupying the Oval Office.
I fear we are on the verge of the next bloody civil war in America.
God help us All!
Roger,
ReplyDeleteGetting past the instant rage of reading this cowardly comment, one has to really come to grips with how miserable this person must be - how soul sick he/she must feel.
I remember reading what seemed like endless disgusting comments at HuffPo back when Tony Snow was re-diagnosed and after some thought, I came to this revelation that these were symptoms of how empty and rudderless so many lives have become in this country.
Roger, know this day that you have an army behind you. A force of prayer and inspiration. A gathering of fans.
Happy Valentine's Day Roger. The only "SMF" is that fellow who left the comment!
ReplyDeleteOh Roger, how awful. I'm so sorry.
ReplyDeleteThere are crazy people out there and sometimes they end up being your friends.
Someone who we thought was a very close friend, turned on us and got very mad because I have a "I support Israel" button on my blog and because I was "political". So much for that friend.

ReplyDeletehe doesnt speak for all of us
keep on keeping on
Roger,
ReplyDeleteThere is no place for comments like the one in this post. How disgraceful. One day, this person will have to stand in front of God Almighty and explain why they said such a horrible thing.
The Bible tells us that "vengeance is mine, saith the Lord" so my concern is for you Roger, my friend and brother.
You continue to be in my prayers!
Pastor Ed
Roger,
ReplyDeleteThat person said much more about himself than he could ever say about you. He obviously isn't intelligent enough to grasp the message and subtleties of that article.

Rog, First things first: Happy Valentine's Day to you. I know from reading your works, especially over at Sansom Street, that you have had a few Valentines and likely have one today, so between those that were, those that are and those that will be, I hope that today is a beautiful one for you.
ReplyDeleteThis commenter was the perfect one to read Taxi. That's the exactly the kind of reader that a fighter wants. You were able to punch him/her in the face with your truth - and you got him in the stomach too because he's sounding a little breathless here. I think you sucked some of his air.
Hope you know how much good you do.
Holger, Maggie & CP nailed it. I can add nothing except AMEN!
ReplyDeleteI have often wondered about the upbringing of liberals. And what type of parents they have.
ReplyDeleteIf this person is any indication I now know that they are raised by the lowest trash on the planet. By people who care only for themselves without a care for their fellow man. A shame really.
You my dear Roger will outlive him and his cohorts. Your writings and wit will be a testimony through out the ages while his words of anger will just fade away.
You my dear friend are immortal.
Thanks all. Love you.
