This interview deals with the recent situation in Berkeley, CA. where the Berkeley City Council set off a firestorm by passing a resolution calling the Marine Recruiters in Berkeley "uninvited and unwelcome intruders".

The interview was conducted via phone, email and follow up questions after recordings of the original council meeting and video of Code Pink physically stopping people from entering the Marine recruitment office with the police standing there allowing them to do so, became available.

This interview with Ms. Morgan discusses the immediate media, internet and political reactions as well as Ms. Morgan's groups, Move America Forward planned event at the next Berkeley city council meeting on February 12, 2008, where she will be attending, participating, broadcasting and reporting on it the next morning on her radio show at KFSO.

The wording of the resolution (PDF file) that was passed by the council in a 6 to 3 vote is:

Recommendation:

1. Direct the City Attorney to investigate and report back to Council within 60 days on City options for enforcing Chapter 13.28 of the Berkeley Municipal Code, prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, with respect to military recruiting offices in Berkeley;

2. Direct the City Manager to send letters to the Marine Corps Recruiting Station at 64 Shattuck Avenue and to General James T. Conway, Commandant of the United States Marine Corps, advising them that the Marine recruiting office is not welcome in our city, and if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome intruders;

3. Encourage all people to avoid cooperation with the Marine Corps recruiting station, and applaud residents and organizations such as Code Pink, that may volunteer to impede, passively or actively, by nonviolent means, the work of any military recruiting office located in the City of Berkeley.

SD: #1. Please tell the readers that are newer, about you, your day job with KFSO, Move America Forward and your best selling book, "America Mourning".

Melanie Morgan: I have been co-hosting the Lee Rodgers and Melanie Morgan show (with Officer Vic for a splash of outrageous humor) for about a dozen years now.

We are the top-rated morning drive talk show in San Francisco, which is amusing to many people who can't believe that a conservative radio station with an activist co-host like myself (and Brian Sussman) can generate a large listening audience.

It is MORE amusing when lefty TV talk show host Keith Olbermann of MSNBC regularly attacks me as the "Worst Person in the World" on his cable show, as we have more listeners locked in my closet than watch his pathetically unfunny program. (Gratuitous shot? Yes, I am happy to take it!)

Daily, I work with Move America Forward from my home in Marin County, and our offices in Sacramento. I co-founded the organization in 2004 with former Assemblyman Howard Kaloogian, and became Chairman in 2005.

We are the largest pro-troops organization in the country with over a million members. We work with other pro-troops groups like Vets for Freedom, Freedom's Watch, Gathering of Eagles, EaglesUp and Families United.

Our loose-knit coalition has helped to turn public opinion that was against the war in Iraq, from the time we started communicating with each other last July.

Polling shows a 20 point jump in approval for 'the surge' engineered by General David Petraeus, and the numbers are continuing to climb.

Move America Forward's mission statement is to support the troops AND their mission. We regard it as a patriotic duty to watch the backs of our troops at home while they fight for us abroad.

I take my job at Move America Forward very, very seriously.

I do hope that people will have a chance to pick-up "American Mourning: The Intimate Story of Two Families Joined by War, Torn by Beliefs" by Catherine Moy and myself.

We put our heart and soul into writing a book about how Cindy Sheehan has exploited the death of her heroic son Casey Sheehan for her own political purposes. We wrote the book in a neutral voice, so that people can judge for themselves what happened during a critical period of time when the left was on the march.

We also contrasted, in rather dramatic form, the death of Casey's best friend from his military training at Fort Hood, Texas Justin Johnson.

The story of how Johnson's family reacted to their grievous hurt is stunning -- at the age of 46, Joe Johnson enlisted in the military as a private to avenge his son's death, and those of other families who lost their sons and daughters.

But it doesn't turn out quite like anybody thinks.

SD: What was your first reaction to the Berkeley City Council passing a resolution calling the marine recruiters in Berkeley, "uninvited and unwelcome intruders"?

Melanie Morgan: Shock. Disgust. Antipathy.

This story first became public news after Code Pink's Medea Benjamin (co-founder of the far left-wing organization funded by George Soros, MoveOn.org and other anti-American organizations) challenged me to debate her in front of the Marine Recruiting Center in Berkeley 10 days ago. I accepted with some important provisos (neutral moderator, acceptable location, Marine participation) which never happened. Of course, Code Pink sent out a press release stating I would participate, which was a flat-out lie.

Rather than accept the public falsehood, we got busy researching the latest antics of Code Pink, and stumbled upon the buried story in the Daily Californian about the resolution denouncing our beloved Marines, put out a press release, and from there the Blogosphere led by Michelle Malkin, took off with righteous indignation. It was also fueled by the leadership of Republican Senator Jim DeMint's proposed legislation to strip the City of Berkeley of its pork barrel spending.

True to its hateful conduct towards our troops, CodePink blockaded the Marine Recruiting office a few days later, forcing police to cut the chains.

Adding insult to injury, CodePink has now begun using the photo of murdered pregnant Marine Maria Lauterback in an evil effort to politically exploit a victim of a heinous crime.

These people have earned a ticket to hell.

SD: Senator Jim DeMint is proposing legislation that would strip over 2 million dollars of earmarks and federal funding from Berkeley, do you support that legislation?

Melanie Morgan: Senator DeMint has shown that he is a great national leader who has the right instincts and inspires people.

I applaud the Senator for stepping in immediately with an pro-active response that has appeared to scare the bejabbers out of the Berkeley City Council.

Senator DeMint's office has been working with Move America Forward behind the scenes to coordinate our assault on the treasonous behavior of the City Council.

SD: Being a popular conservative radio show host for KFSO what kind of feedback are you getting from your listeners in San Francisco about the city council of Berkeley? Letters? Callers?

Melanie Morgan: We have been receiving a tsunami of support for our troops, and literally thousands of e-mails, phone calls, and :cc's of letters sent to the City Council.

In fact, between my radio show, the blogs, Move America Forward's e-mail list with over a million members, the support of the other pro-troops groups, we were able to crash the server of the Berkeley City Council. We did find some back door addresses, and thousands more letters denouncing their efforts to strip our Marines of their free speech rights has back-fired.

Big time.

SD: What do you think about The American Legions press release regarding Berkeley where they said "The Marines are not your enemy"?

Melanie Morgan: The American Legion is unafraid to take a bold stand, engage the veterans in the issue, and I'm deeply appreciative.

Here's the direct quote.

" Osama bin Laden couldn't have said it better," American Legion National Commander Marty Conatser said of the Berkeley City Council Resolution, which tells the Marines that they are not welcome there. "Disgraceful, disloyal, ungrateful. These words are too kind in describing the actions of the public officials in Berkeley, who voted for this disgrace. Nonetheless, our Marines continue to bravely serve and in so doing, allow Americans to spout such foolishness. The American Legion not only strongly condemns this action by the City Council but also believes that a sincere apology is in order to all Marines, past and present."

I was so impressed with the concise, direct comparison made by Marty Conaster that I am quoting him back with many interviews that I have done involving this issue.

He sums up how American Legion veterans, and all patriotic Americans feel right now.

SD: I saw that Move America Forward has also started a petition, which I will show and link to, at the bottom of this interview as well as the photo you have kindly given me permission to use.

What is that for and will it be hand delivered?

Melanie Morgan: There are a number of petitions circulating right now on the blogosphere registering outrage and disgust. I celebrate that so many are taking the steps to get people aware and engaged by our efforts.

But I want to make this distinction: Move America Forward's petition is the ONLY one that is going to be delivered personally to the Berkeley City Council next Tuesday night.

The more folks who sign, the more we shove it back in the face of the Mayor and his minions.

SD: Tell us about Move America Forwards protest/rally you are organizing for February 12, 2008?

Melanie Morgan: We are beginning next Tuesday morning at o'dark hundred with staffers from Move America Forward in front of the Berkeley City Council offices.

For those of you who are not in the military, that translates to 5:00 A.M.

One of the things that I have noticed as an activist is that the morning television shows love to show up hours before a scheduled event, turn the cameras around on an empty arena, and say that our side isn't there.

We will be there, for every news cycle until the actual meeting at 7:00 p.m. in order to show our disgust. The meeting time for people with real jobs is 5:00 p.m. two hours before the Council begins it's deliberations.

Instructions on how to get to Berkeley by trains, planes and automobiles are available at our website.

I will be broadcasting from the Council meetings, testifying before the Council, and reporting the Council's actions the next morning on KSFO radio.

We have bloggers who will be posting and who are planning to come.

Most importantly, we have dozens of groups who have committed to bring members, as well as citizens who have friends, relatives, neighbors and acquaintances of people who do the hard work for Freedom.

SD: Pete Hegseth, executive Director of Vets For Freedom said "The man or woman who puts on the uniform of a United States Marine, Soldier, Sailor or Airman swears an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. Clearly, the elected officials of Berkeley, California see the Constitution as a mere roadblock in their radical left-wing agenda. What these fanatics fail to realize is that the fantasy world that they live in exists under the very cloak of freedom provided by the sacrifices of the men and women who serve in the Armed Forces."

Do you agree with that?

Melanie Morgan: Pete Hegseth is one of the true shining lights to focus America's attention on the necessity to fight and win in Iraq.

He is a war hero, a veteran with terrific speaking and writing skills, who is dedicating his life now to making sure that his fellow troop members are not forgotten, and this war doesn't fall into the propaganda ash-heap.

His organization is beginning a national tour of Iraq war Heroes that will criss-cross the country, ending in Washington, D.C. where Move America Forward is planning a big parade and celebration of General David Petreaus' successful counter-insurgency efforts (some call it the surge.)

SD: I see you have listed at your site, melaniemorgan.com letters sent to you by businesses that are planning to take their business elsewhere and not do any business with Berkeley.

Melanie Morgan: I am not a huge fan of business boycotts, because it hurts some of the same people who actually support our troops. But this outrage has grown exponentially, and I posted some of the Berkeley boycotters to send a shot across the bow at the crazed leftists who populate the Berkeley City Council.

And it's working.

So, for all those who wrote to me, I wanted to report their efforts.

People are taking action, as Mayor Tom Bates, to his dismay, has now figured out.

SD: Mayor Bates of Berkeley offered to help the Marines leave, which they politely declined and has stated along with other council members that they wish to "reword" that resolution?

Melanie Morgan: Where there is heat, there is light. That's an old political axiom, and now the smelly hippy, tree-hugging, environmental nut-jobs who do NOT support our troops, and HATE their mission are seeing a searing truth.

SD: Do you think that will make any difference at this point?

Melanie Morgan: Oh yes I do! And the fact that Master Bates is 'softening ' his rhetoric proves it. But in the next breath, the Mayor turned around and offered to 'broker a deal' to release the Marines from its lease on Shattuck Avenue. Can you say TWO-FACED LIAR?

It trips right off MY tongue.

SD: Your reaction to city council member, Linda Maio, saying "I don't think any of us paid enough attention to it, and people want to rewrite it to more accurately portray our sentiments. We really do have a great deal of concern for the people in our military, and we don't want to be critical of the sacrifices they are making."

Melanie Morgan: It enrages me all the more. Linda Maio is supposed to read all the damn legislation that comes before the Council. It's her job. But this is just a cheap attempt to escape responsibility for punishing the Marines for daring to intrude into Berkeley's limousine liberal land.

NOT . GONNA. WORK.

SD: Do you think there is going to be even more backlash against the city of Berkeley or will it pass and be forgotten?

Melanie Morgan: This is just the beginning.

We know that CodePink, MoveOn.org, and international A.N.S.W.E.R got crushed this summer when they couldn't organize the millions of people they bragged would take to the streets with their white hot hatred of our efforts to bring freedom in Iraq and establish a beach-head to stop Islamic terrorists.

They have also lost every single piece of legislation sponsored by the cut-and-run crowd for a premature pull-out in Iraq.

So they have changed strategy.

The new goal is to force/persuade local governments to vote on all kinds of anti-war resolutions that hurt our military.

SD: Melanie, is there anything else you would like to add to the end of this interview?

Melanie Morgan: I visited Iraq in 2005 when the situation wasn't as positive as it is now. And that's not to disparage the re-building, and the super-human fighting efforts of our troops. But when I returned to the region over the Christmas holidays, there is no denying now that the American military has turned a vital corner.

If you doubt that, listen to the silence from the Democrat candidates about the surge success.

But we have vital work that must be done in fighting the leftist ideology that permeates certain segments of our society who are promulgating defeat in a part of the world where we have to succeed. The consequences of failure are unthinkable.

We have NOT failed in Iraq. We WILL not fail in Iraq. We will NOT let insane people who hate our troops to undermine our troops in Iraq.

To: The City Council, Mayor and City Manager of Berkeley, California

We, the undersigned, do register our complete outrage with the City of Berkeley for the recent resolutions that criticized our Marines, as part of an effort to harass the Marine Recruiting Center and chase all vestiges of the United States military outside of the city of Berkeley, California.

We take particular umbrage with the instructions given to the City Manager of Berkeley to tell the United States Marines that they are, "uninvited and unwelcome intruders."

It is shameful for you to attack our military men and women who nobly and bravely serve this nation to protect our security and defend our freedoms and liberties. Those liberties include the right to Freedom of Speech, which you seem to believe should not be afforded to the members of the United States Marine Corps and service personnel in other branches of the Armed Forces.

I call upon you to immediately revoke the resolutions passed that defamed and insulted our U.S. Marines and issue a public apology to this nation, and in particular, the honorable and heroic men and women of the United States military.

Assemblyman Guy Houston of Livermore is sponsoring a bill in the state legislature to strip Berkeley of STATE transportation funding in light of it's outrageous stand against the Marines.

Houston's office says the measure will deny Berkeley $3.3 million dollars of transportation bond money due to the fact the Council voted to give taxpayers dollars for a parking right-of-way to Code Pink.

Houston will join us at 7:35 a.m. Friday morning on Hottalk 560 KSFO to discuss this new measure.

The Next President of the European Council?

"It will be important to pay attention to the next President of the European Council. Many thought the former British PM Tony Blair was a shoe-in for the seat. I don't see it myself as the controversy he was embroiled in during his tenure just related to Iraq and Afghanistan -- is daunting. I'm thinking and strongly suspect he will not hold the position -- my thinking is Luxembourg PM Jean-Claude Juncker will take it. He is chairman of finance ministers for the EU. He has been pretty much the captain of European compromise since '95.

No one in the Union is hard questioning the Muslim population surge in the EU. No one seems focused on security or homegrown terrorism. Everyone is focused on the economy. A very dangerous, and complacent stance I see in the UK, European countries, Canada and the US. A very effective distraction -- the economy."

When you're right, you're right. As unpleasant as it may be, I think it's finally time for us to face up to the facts and issue some apologies. A more thorough examination of the historical evidence appears to support what the liberals have been telling us all along -- that we Americans were, indeed, responsible for the rise of radical Islam.

There, I've said it and I feel better now.

Of course, I'm not referring to those controversial actions of our present war mongering Bush administration. Nor even those awkward missteps of that bumbling Clintonian gang. No, we're not talking here about Reagan or Carter or any of the preceding administrations or any of their misguided foreign policy blunders. This has little to do with any of our politicians or statesmen or generals or religious leaders. In fact, the likely instigators in this sordid affair held no major governmental posts whatsoever. And while many of them, although somewhat 'on in years' are still with us, they probably won't be found anywhere near Washington D.C. Rather, they're spread all across America, living out their quiet normal lives in virtual anonymity, neatly tucked into their warm quilted comforters.

Who, then, are these mysterious Golden-agers? And what did they do that so infuriated the peaceful Muslim ummah and set the Middle East ablaze?

They are, God bless them, the notorious Greeley Girls. And what they did was dance. And their dancing changed our world.

The facts of the story are as follows. In 1948, a relatively unknown author and minor administrator from the Egyptian Ministry of Education was sent to the United States to study our educational system. A shy, quiet, somewhat droopy little man, with an almost comical Charlie Chaplin moustache, his name was Sayyid Qutb (pronounced 'kut-tib'). Unfortunately for the fastidious Mister Qutb, his unhappy sojourn in America would prove to be more than a classic case of culture shock; it would soon become a deeply traumatic experience from which he would never fully recover.

By 1950, Qutb had made his way to that infamous hotbed of sin and licentiousness, Greeley, Colorado, where he enrolled at Colorado State Teachers College, now the University of Northern Colorado. Although forty-two years old, the hyper-sensitive and deeply pious Sayyid was, by all accounts, still a virgin. And evidently, almost everything about the 1950s free-wheeling Greeley cultural scene deeply shocked him and offended his tender sensibilities. He found Americans brash, materialistic, immoral and self-indulgent. He was astonished by the Greeleyite's apparent obsession with their well-manicured green lawns, and their ungoverned drinking of alcohol and wanton indulgence in hedonistic pleasures. He found the men to be shallow and brutal, their sports, football, wrestling and boxing, savage and pointless, and their ignorance of the world profound.

But Qutb saved his most vicious and vehement condemnations for those pretty Greeley coeds.

"The American girl," he would later write in his book 'The America I Have Seen', "is well acquainted with her body's seductive capacity. She knows it lies in the face, and in expressive eyes, and thirsty lips. She knows seductiveness lies in the round breasts, the full buttocks, and in the shapely thighs, sleek legs -- and she knows all this and does not hide it." Whew! Thirsty lips and shapely thighs -- those Greeley Girls must have been pretty hot stuff. We can just picture these promiscuous bobby-soxers, provocatively sauntering about the Colorado State campus in their ankle-length plaid skirts and sexy penny loafers. No wonder poor Sayyid was so scandalized. But, for our Twentieth-Century Savonarola there was still worse to come.

Qutb devoted some of his most lurid and lascivious purple prose attempting to describe what he perceived to be the Greeley Girls most wanton debauchery -- their sensual and suggestive dancing. "They danced to the tunes of the gramophones, and the dance floor was replete with tapping feet, enticing legs, arms wrapped around waists, lips pressed to lips, and chests pressed to chests. The atmosphere was full of desire..."

For those of you who weren't around, or those who may have forgotten, the most popular record of 1950 was that catchy little alphabetical love song "'A' - You're adorable", sung by Perry Como and the Fontane Sisters. Also big that year was "The Tennessee Waltz", by Patti Page and the immortal "Mona Lisa", by Nat "King" Cole. The big bands of the 30s and 40s were starting to fade away but the Tommy Dorsey Band was still around and still drew large crowds of enthusiastic fans. Doris Day was hugely popular, and Frank Sinatra was just beginning his epic journey to stardom. A new age of "bebop" jazz was being ushered in by talented musicians like trumpeter Miles Davis and baritone saxophonist Gerry Mulligan, whose intricately-scored and heavily-orchestrated new recordings were heralded as the "Birth of the Cool".

Yet somehow, in the midst of all this soulless hedonism, between June 1948 and May 1949 the Great Satan had managed to extricate itself from its frenetic self-indulgence long enough to have flown 278,228 flights into Soviet-blockaded Berlin carrying over 2 million tons of food and supplies which, at the cost of 31 American lives, most likely saved a whole generation of Berliners from starvation and possible death. And somehow, this decadent self-centered nation managed to find the time to vote 5.43 billion 1950 dollars in foreign assistance to help some of its former enemies to rebuild war-ravaged Europe.

Of course, in Sayyid Qutb's moral ledger book, all of this Yankee magnanimity would count for little. For, he had seen the notorious Greeley Girls dance, and that was all he needed to see.

In 1951, Qutb returned to Egypt and became a leader of the fundamentalist, anti-Western Muslim Brotherhood. Considered one of the most influential Islamic theorists, his writings would become the theoretical basis for radical Islam. Eventually, Sayyid Qutb was accused of plotting against the Egyptian government and imprisoned. He was executed in 1966. Among his many pupils and ardent followers was Ayman Zawahiri, who would later become mentor to Osama bin Laden.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

Recently Radarsite had occasion to pose the following question to both Sir John Keegan and Prof. Gerhard Weinberg:
"Considering the number of revisionist histories which have been published in these past few decades, attempting to depict the Second World War as merely a morally-neutral conflict between nation-states over competing self-interests, do you still believe that that war was indeed a battle between Good and Evil?"

Both men answered with an unequivocal, Yes. Despite all of the intervening arguments to the contrary, both of these acknowledged experts still viewed WWII as a battle between the forces of Good and the forces of Evil -- although, Prof. Weinberg added that the forces of Good had had to make temporary common cause with another force of Evil (the Soviet Union) in order to achieve its ultimate victory.

Why is this an important question today?

In our present PC society, where almost every moral stance has been eroded and weakened by those currently-popular concepts of moral equivilancy, it is crucial for this beleaguered country of ours to accept the fact that Evil does exist. And, to believe that that is what we are currently fighting against; and that, as flawed as we may be, we are indeed the forces of Good.

The Outrage of Patriotism

As some of you may know, I have written many articles critical of many things. Most often, of course, I've been critical of that dangerous Religion of Peace, called Islam. However, I have also found time to criticize feminists, liberals, Mexican-Americans, and even the Queen of England. But, no other article I have ever written has generated more angry hate mail, nor more malicious personal attacks than a short piece I wrote earlier this week.

No, it wasn't that one about those deadly Mohammad cartoons; and it wasn't that piece about the Jews and anti-semitism -- which I was certain would receive all kinds of objectionable comments, but actually received none.

The article that generated the most vicious and hateful responses -- even more than any of my anti-Islam pieces -- was that short essay I wrote in praise of America, A Brief Message to America. Even some of those people who had previously been generally acceptive of my point of view got upset enough to let me know about it. In sum, the common theme of these protests was that the article in question was "disgusting" and made them "sick". A lot of jokes about running to get the bucket. One angry commenter accused me of "never having written anything of value since I first started posting". I had, till then, never experienced real unmittigated visceral hatred for something I had written.

Evidently, the subject of patriotism is even more inflammatory and controversial than the subject of anti-semitism. What, I wonder, does this say about us here, today, in America? What does this tell us about ourselves that we don't already know? Do you find this as revealing as I do?

In general, I am being accused of two major personal faults: either being a "phony" or a "fool". To me, a phony is someone who says things that they don't really mean; therefore I am not a phony. As to being a fool, I suppose that's for others to decide. Some ninety per cent of the hate mail came from right here in the U.S. -- although, surprisingly, some of the most disturbing came from -- of all places -- New Zealand.

However, I am also happy to report that this little article unapologetically extolling the virtually-ignored virtues of America and Americans also garnered some of the warmest and most genuinely supportive comments I have ever gotten for any other piece (including, to my surprise, Fox News). The most fulsome praise for that article's praise of America came -- not surprisingly -- from our loyal allies in Australia.

The article is just an article -- but the reactions are significant. Significant and disturbing. This is the nature of our current and growing 'civil war'. These are the enemies we face.

For me, being patriotic is as natural and uncomplicated as loving your parents.
Are our parents without fault? Do they sometimes make mistakes? (although, I must admit, the older I get the less mistakes they seem to have made) The answer to both is of course, Yes. But they are our parents and we love them, don't we? We love them and we honor them, because they are good and they are decent and they have raised us up and nurtured us and protected us from harm to the best of their ability. And, again, the older I get, the more I appreciate how much they sacrificed for me so that I could have a chance at leading a free and productive life.

When I was an adolescent, I thought as an adolescent, and I was more than eager to find fault with them and with all of their 'phony values' and with the way they looked at this world. And I rebelled against them, as I rebelled against all authority figures and all of those loathsome symbols of The Establishment. In this way I was, of course, being a perfect conformist; conforming to the expectations of rebellious adolescence.

Thankfully, and finally, I've grown up now. After September 11, 2001, I've grown up even more -- as I'm sure a lot of us here have.

Over these past years, something has become increasingly apparent to me, a little theory of mine, which I can of course in no way corroborate with facts. It is simply this: the people I have known in my life who seem to be the most productive, the happiest, the most at ease with themselves and this world, are those people who speak of their parents with simple, unreserved affection, loyalty and love. Whether these were attributes which had always been present, or whether they were learned later on through life's experience -- as mine were -- they were almost invariably present and obvious.

I pity our enemies, for I think that they are unhappy and empty, I pity them as I pity all of those current rebellious adolescents who, for the sake of conforming to some perceived convention, have turned on their parents and their country and learned how to despise them and everything they stand for.

Maybe, if they live long enough...

Old news?
It had better not be! We had better not ever let this become old news! We can only allow this to become old news when the threat disappears, when people like Flemming Rose -- whom Danish police recently revealed had been the target of a botched terrorist bomb attack -- don't have to live out their lives in fear. We can let this become old news when courageous journalists and writers, such as Salman Rushdie, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and our own Michelle Malkin et al, don't have to live furtive lives in heavily guarded secrecy for fear of being assassinated by one of those righteous followers of this gentle Religion of Peace.

Not only is this subject not old news, but the new news just keeps getting worse. More writers and artists, politicians and now even bloggers have been forced into hiding -- some, like British blogger Lionheart, forced into living a life in exile in fear of their own Petainist governments, who have eagerly collaborated with their Muslim occupiers, and in their cowardly attempts to appease these backward brutes have rushed to put new Orwellian "Hate Crime" laws on their books. Laws which make criticizing Islam in any negative way whatsoever -- even in their own country, a crime subject to fines and/or imprisonment.

Old news? Hardly.
If only it were.

In honor of Flemming Rose and all of those other brave people who have quite literally risked their lives to show us the evil face of Islam, the very least we in the West can do for them is to vow to never, ever forget them.

With this purpose in mind, Radarsite will periodically post these deadly and fateful cartoons. In this small way we can thumb our noses at the mullahs, and maybe they will in turn honor us with a personal fatwa.

So here they are once again, in all their righteous glory. Enjoy them once again. People put their lives at risk to bring them to you.

A Brief Message to America

A note from Radarsite: This short essay on America garnered more controversy than any other article on Radarsite either before or after. It had begun by my asking myself how "Old Blood and Guts" Patton would address our current generation if he were still around. Thus this Brief Message to America was written with the sound of General Patton's inimitable voice in my ears. I received so much hate mail from this small article that it spawned a whole new article just to deal with the spiteful comments, which was subsequently published by the Chicago Sun Times. America -- it's time to stop what you're doing for a minute and take a good long look in the mirror.



You have allowed other people to delineate your image for too long now. You have uncritically accepted their skewed portraiture as truth and bought into their self-serving lies. You have been bullied by cold-hearted cynics and wrong-headed critics into believing that you are something that you are not, and never could have been.

It's time to stop all that now, America. It's time to remember who the hell you are. In the words of our late great Ambassador Jeanne Kirkpatrick, "Americans need to face up to the truth about themselves, no matter how pleasant it is."

You seem to have forgotten that the world is weak and envious of your strength. They want what you have and deride you because they need you. But your detractors are small and petty and vicious; and you are great and beautiful.

You are nothing less than the light of the world, and the hope of all its people. Without your stalwart protection and the selfless sacrifice of your courageous fathers and sons who have fought and died on foreign soil to protect other people's liberties, the glorious achievements of this whole wondrous Western Civilization would have long ago crumbled into dust and been trampled under the feet of the barbarians.

So listen up now, America. The world needs you once again. Take a good hard look at yourself. And stand tall and be proud. You are quite simply the bravest, most noble, most generous, most high-minded and judicious nation the world has ever known.

Think about it. What other proper name for a people contains its own epithet?
For every other people and nation we have had to create a special, derogatory slang word to express our disdain or contempt. For the Italians we created Dagos and Whoops, for Blacks we came up with Niggers (yes, Al Sharpton, I'm actually saying the N-word. Why should you be an exception?), for the fickle French we've got Frogs and for the Spanish, Spics.

But the Jews are a special case, aren't they? So special are they that we don't even need to create a new word to insult them. Their name alone does the trick. We're still having trouble saying the word aloud. We prefer to ask, Are you Jewish? We simply can't bring ourselves to ask, Are you a Jew? It sounds like an insult, doesn't it? But why should the name itself sound like an insult? Is it that loaded with ulterior meaning? Is the word itself that dangerous?
Evidently the answer is Yes.

For more than two thousand years this world's been trying to come to grips with that powder keg of a word. And it seems to me that we're no closer now than ever to comprehending its vast impenetrable mystery.

Today, January 25, 2008, in the latest edition of the Chesler Chronicles posted at Pajamas Media, the inimitable Phyllis Chesler details, with characteristic incisiveness, the latest evidence of the ongoing "Hate Israel follies". With unassailable authority, Dr. Chesler delineates the undeniable growth of these great disturbing truths. These great old disturbing truths.

But why? That's the seemingly eternal question that still haunts our Twenty-first Century Western World.
Why now?
Why the Jews?
Why the Jews again?

And why, for heaven's sake, Israel? Can anyone in the West in their right mind justify denying support to our only reliable ally in this whole bloody hate-filled region? How is it possible -- after the horrors perpetrated on us on September 11, 2001 by those nineteen unrepentant Arab Muslims -- that we can still embrace these moral monsters and side with them in their never-ending onslaught against the tiny democratic Fortress Israel?

How the hell can we continually ask our imperiled and vastly outnumbered ally to give up yet more land for yet more cynical empty Arab lies? More land for more rocket-launchers? Yet we do ask, don't we? Every day we ask Israel for more. Endure, we say, endure and give up more.

And why should you give up more? You should give up more, we say, because you're in the wrong. You're in the wrong by existing, and as long as you continue to exist we can not in good conscience defend you.

Am I wrong in thinking that the only possible answers to these troubling questions are the obvious ones: oil and anti-semitism? Are there perhaps other more abstruse and complicated reasons of statecraft that are simply beyond my limited comprehension? Can it be that this ancient evil presence is still slithering amongst us after all these years? After all these bloody pogroms and endless persecutions? After the unspeakable horrors of the holocaust? And the unspeakable shame of our despicable present-day holocaust deniers?

It seems to this particular student of Western history that the descent of decent civilized societies into chaos then anarchy or fascism is almost invariably attended by a disturbing rise in that society's gradual but unmistakable acceptance of anti-semitism. It is an almost perfect bellwether.

Take note. Look around you now and what do you see?

With the undeniable and alarming rise of militant Islam throughout all of Europe and Scandinavia and Britain, and the growing empowerment of the secular left, we can plainly read those same old unmistakable signs of a resurgent anti-semitism -- the hastily-scrawled Swastikas and the over-turned tombstones, the hate-filled rhetoric, the crude propaganda and the relentless demonizing.

Wake up everyone! It's here right now. It's all around us. It's undeniable and it's evil and it's growing.

Get ready World, here we go again!

Every day the reports coming in are getting more and more ominous. We are losing battle after battle. From Sweden, from Denmark, Germany and Italy, the bad news keeps coming. Whole sections of old historical European cities are under siege. Stockholm, Marseilles, entire rural communities north of Rome, the industrial cities of Northern England, all are rapidly becoming culturally unrecognizable.

And in the wake of this relentless Muslim tsunami the Socialist multiculturalist European governments are falling all over themselves to accommodate these seditious immigrants who despise everything that their democratic societies stand for. The barbarians move in and civilization retreats and the crime rate soars. And it's happening over and over again.

Every day we write about the latest international horror on our websites, every day we pour our impotent rage into this vast anonymous blogosphere, where it quickly dissipates into the ether. Every day we compose our passionate essays and our thought-provoking articles; we dutifully support our well-reasoned arguments with legions of statistics.

And every day the world moves closer and closer to the edge of the yawning chasm. Closer and closer to cultural oblivion.

Our whole civilized Judeo/Christian Western World, it seems, is in the thralls of some dark hypnotic medieval catharsis of self-flagellation. We have convinced ourselves that we are monstrous sinners, that we must atone for our monstrous sins by willingly participating in our complete and utter self-destruction. We have risen to our civilizational heights, we continually remind ourselves, by building our glorious empires on the broken corpses of the world's wretched and poor. Whatever good we have done for this world was either illusory or self-aggrandizing.

We eagerly cede the moral high ground to these backward brutes without debate. We pride ourselves on our ability to grovel before them, we smile in sweet subservience and ask them if there's anything more we can do. We honor their right to dishonor our laws and to undermine our traditional values and we call it enlightenment. We teach our children to despise us, and we pay our entertainers to humiliate us in front of the whole world.

Like all self-perceived failures, we look back nostalgically to those halcyon days of long ago. Those days of that so-called Greatest Generation, when we were a people united and all the world loved us.

But maybe that was all a dream. Maybe the world never really loved us after all. Maybe we're getting our memories all mixed up with our movies. Maybe they all just feared us, and needed us. Maybe...

To at least half of our fellow citizens we conservative bloggers are seen as nothing more than alarmists and propagandists, morose disciples of gloom and doom. For at least half of our fellow citizens 9/11 just didn't do it. The Munich Olympics didn't do it either, and Beirut didn't do it, Lockerby didn't do it, Madrid didn't do it, and the London bombings didn't do it, and on and on and on and on...

One can only ask: What the hell would do it?

How many more democratic Western cultures will have to be inundated and destroyed? How many more innocent people will have to die? How many more Western women will have to be gang-raped by unrepentant Muslim thugs? How many more multiculturalist city councils will meekly surrender to Islamist intimidation? How many more big traditional New Year's Eve celebrations will have to be called off for fear of Muslim retaliation?

Where will it all end?

Will our collective anguished cries merely dissipate into the ether?

This Sunday in an article at Wake Up America, Susan Duclos revealed a recently reported foiled plot to assassinate the Queen of England.

This report, as frightening as it is, brings up a question I have long had in reference to the Queen of England and the imminent Islamification of her proud country.

WHERE THE HELL HAS SHE BEEN?

For that matter, other than in the daily gossip columns, where the hell have ANY of the Royal family been? Am I missing something here, or have they all been embarrassingly uninvolved in this huge domestic cultural crisis?

To a Yankee from across the Pond, it seems that now more than ever the people of England need their Queen to take the lead in protecting their nation's rich cultural heritage and staving off the impending Muslim immigrant takeover of her country.

Yet, it appears to this observer, the pampered Royals have decided to totally ignore this crucial battle and stay safely shut up behind the walls of their Royal Palaces and leave the bloody fighting to others. Meanwhile, this poor brave little island, this once noble England, is being torn apart by its ruthless internal enemies, those deadly vipers which they themselves foolishly let into their nest.

England faces a danger today at least as grave as it did in the Thirties. And, even though some of the Royal's anti-fascist views during that period may have been somewhat suspect, they were at least visible to their subjects; publicly encouraging their nation's brave refusal to submit to the Nazi yoke, and to somehow endure the unendurable horrors of the London Blitz.

Yet today, for whatever reasons, the Royals -- and particularly the Queen -- are noticeably absent from the scene. And this particular Yank can only wonder why?

A Big Ms.- take

Today (1/11/08) on Spree’s Wake Up America HCDL posted an astonishing little piece about how the famous -- perhaps now infamous -- Ms. women’s magazine refused to run the above ad promoting Israeli women in positions of power. What possible motive, HCDL asks, could they have for refusing to run an advertisement which clearly demonstrates the success of professional women in Israel?

The message, I take it, is pretty clear — "Feminists should like the way women are treated in Israeli life," coupled with the pretty strong implication of "... and look how favorably it compares on this score to Israel's enemies."
Needless to say, this decision is causing quite a bit of stir, NEGATIVE stir, probably more than RUNNING the ad would have caused.

Yet this is what the American Jewish Congress reports happened when the ad was submitted to Ms. magazine:

When Director of AJCongress’ Commission for Women’s Empowerment Harriet Kurlander tried to place the ad, she was told that publishing the ad “will set off a firestorm” and that “there are very strong opinions” on the subject -− the subject presumably being whether or not one can say anything positive about Israel. Ms. Magazine publisher Eleanor Smeal failed to respond to a signed-for certified letter with a copy of the ad as well as numerous calls by Mr. Gordon over a period of weeks.

A Ms. Magazine representative, Susie Gilligan, whom the Ms. Magazine masthead lists under the publisher’s office, told Ms. Kurlander that the magazine “would love to have an ad from you on women’s empowerment, or reproductive freedom, but not on this.” Ms. Gilligan failed to elaborate what “this” is....

Dear Ms. Kort -- Being a 70 year old male, I have not had occasion to read Ms. lately, although I have certainly heard of it. Today, however, I heard about Ms. in a somewhat different and quite disturbing context. I read several reports in well-known and respected conservative blogs about your refusal to run the Israeli ad in question. Your excuses for refusing to publish this pro-Israeli women's ad come off at best as disingenuous, at worst as downright deceptive.
Never before in recent history have women's rights been so blatantly and brutally suppressed and trampled on as they are being right this moment in the Arab/Muslim cultures of the Middle East. The only exception to this pervasive onslaught against women's equality is the tiny brave state of Israel. If ever women's advocates, such as Ms. and other such publications and organizations, who purport to be fighting for the rights of women, were needed in this great civilizational battle the time is now.
But where are you? Where are those powerful voices of protest that were so vocal and pervasive all during the sixties and seventies? Where are all those multitudinous angry demonstrations and those media-savvy bra-burnings now? Where are you now that we, the world, need you most?
The battle rages on and you are AWOL. And your silence is deafening. Now more than ever, when American women need to speak up on behalf of their downtrodden Muslim sisters around the world -- and even here in the United States -- not only do you choose to remain silent on the sidelines, you actually race to support the cause of our enemies. This kind of self-centered pettiness is totally incomprehensible to me -- and to many other rational and disgusted citizens across this country.
Is your political hatred of Bush and his foreign policies so great, so blinding, that it even causes you to turn against those very women for whom you claim to be speaking? How can you justify this cowardly betrayal of your constituents and your country?
If there is any hope at all of bringing about some sea change in that brutal male-dominant culture of the Middle East, it lies with Israel, and with your Muslim sisters and in their ability to stand up and fight against this wicked Islamic oppression. But they need your help. They need the help and support of women's orgs like yours. Yet, for the sake of making some misguided liberal political statements -- or perhaps expressing some not-so-subtle anti-semitism -- you have dishonored your mission and given aid and comfort to our enemies.
Have you no shame?
I intend to publish this email in the form of an article which I will then disseminate to as many websites as possible. If you reply with something other than your previous meaningless obfuscations, I will be happy to publish your response as well.

He is facing arrest for doing something and for doing it well. He has written about the invasion of his native land by Muslims. And he has called a spade a spade. And today WE DO NOT CALL A SPADE A SPADE. It is ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN TO CALL A SPADE A SPADE. Or to call the ISLAMIC MENACE an ISLAMIC MENACE.

My God! How have we let it come to this? When the hell are we going to stop this before it's just too late to stop it? How in hell can you write about a hateful and murderous cult without calling it hateful and murderous? How in hell can you demonize the devil? Just to describe it is to commit the crime.

If these same Hate Laws are enacted and enforced here in the United States -- and we are coming very, very close to this fateful precipice -- every conservative blogger or columnist here who writes -- truthfully -- about this Islamic Menace IS VULNERABLE. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US. And from what I have read of Lionheart's work, I must say that what I have written critically about Islam is ten times more scathing. Ten times more indictable. And I've got plenty of company.

Regardless of the outcome of this particular preposterous and outrageous British case, the mere fact that we in the Western world have allowed it to progress this far is an indictment against our collective intellectual laziness and our lack of courage. We have allowed two terrible monsters to grow to maturity within our midst: the Imperialistic Islamic Menace, and the PC Multicultural liberals who are nourishing this deadly beast to their own bosom.

THIS CANNOT STAND. We must not just read these articles about this latest horror and move on to something else. It's gotten too serious. The threat's too grave. It's gone much too far. We're in some kind of crazy International Stockholm Syndrome. We identify more closely with the criminals than with those who are trying to save us.

Please, before it's too late. NOW IS THE TIME. TOMORROW WILL BE TOO LATE.

Fellow Blogger Lionheart to be arrested for speaking the truth
Fellow blogger Lionheart sent me an email this morning to let me know a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Why? Because he blogs about Islamic terrorism. He says:

I am currently out of the Country and on my return home to England I am going to be arrested by British detectives on suspicion of Stirring up Racial Hatred by displaying written material" contrary to sections 18(1) and 27(3) of the Public Order Act 1986.

This charge if found guilty carries a lengthy prison sentence, more than what most paedophiles and rapists receive, and all for writing words of truth about the barbarity that is living in the midst of our children, which threatens the very future of our Country.

The cultural weapon in the hands of the modern Jihad within Great Britain, silencing the opposition using our own laws against us - The Dumb Filthy Kaffir's as the Moslem would say to his children behind closed doors.

What has become of my homeland, the land my forefathers fought and died for on the battlefields of the world when one of their children is forced into the position of facing years in prison for standing up for what is right and just within British society.

At least my words of truth have obviously now reached people's eyes and ears, with the powers that be now intent on silencing me - Third World Tyranny in a supposed 21st Century democracy!

I wonder if the Moslem peer Lord Ahmed was one of the people behind trying to silence me, I did wonder about why he crashed his car and nearly killed himself over Christmas, let that be a lesson to you - 1 Chronicles 16:22 Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.”

How dare any Moslem try and silence the truth from being told by an Englishman about the Islamic enemy in our midst within the British homeland.

Who have I killed, who have I threatened to kill? No one, all I have done is written about my reality on a computer screen, and now I face going to prison in my own country for standing up for myself and others.

What has happened to those who threatened my life or who have killed my friends - NOTHING - This is British justice in the 21st Century - Shove your British Labour justice because it is worthless to the Englishman whose country this is, whose country you have destroyed.

Who blew up trains and buses on 7/7, who tried blowing up cars in London and Glasgow, who is seeking to detonate a dirty bomb upon the streets of Great Britain and who believes that non-Islamic territory is to be viewed as 'the house of war and must be converted at all costs', I dont think you will find it is me, but I have no problem with educating others to the threat, the threat that this 'Loony Labour Government' is pretending is not real - The former Home Secretary knew what he was talking about. [snip]

I do not want to go to prison for many years for standing up for my children and other childrens futures, it is an injustice within what is supposed to be a civilized democratic society and people need to know what is happening, that my government is now seeking to silence me from speaking the truth about the war that has been declared against us all.

Today it is me and my blog and tomorrow it is you and your blog.

Please help me get this message out there by raising the awareness of this injustice, then my State Sanctioned arrest will not be in vain.
