As you probably know I'm battling leukemia. In March I contracted pnuemonia and was in the hospital for a month. Although at one point the doctor's just about gave up on me, I had what they called
a "miraculous recovery". I am home now and feeling great -- and writing. I just had a follow up exam and I am doing superbly. They will be restarting my chemo treatments in a couple of weeks. I'm on a new relatively non-invasive drug treatment called Vidaylis, and they tell me that I'm a good candidate for it. My latest prognosis was 6-9 months. That was in November, so that would take me through the summer.
But somehow -- perhaps because of all the prayers I've been receiving -- I think it's going to be better than that.
I am in no pain and I am surrounded by great friends and loving family. In an odd way, this has turned out to be one of the most wonderful times of my life.
Believe it or not I have actually received several hate mails about my condition from angry libs -- hoping that I die quickly. However, rather than hurting my feelings, they just make me kaugh at the paucity of the character of our adversaries.
Thanks again, and take care.
RogerRoger W.
